Filmmakers and music historians William Wirths (aka Rev. Billy C. Wirtz) and Bob Kealing will show and discuss their film, “The Florida Chitlin’ Circuit: Where the Legends Came to Play During the Jim Crowe Era,” exploring the cultural economic conditions that shaped American popular music in the mid-20th century. Particular attention will be given to the trailblazing performers of the “Chitlin’ Circuit,” a system of venues from Detroit to Tampa for African American artists during an era of racial segragation.
Doors open at 6:30 PM.
