Experience this incredible husband and wife duo in the NOMA Black Box! Jazz pianist, composer, arranger, writer and educator, Per Danielsson is the Associate Professor of Jazz Piano at UCF, and will be joined by his wife Tamara who has performed across the world and currently performing at the Disney World Resort. They’ll be joined by bass player, Ron Jenkins who performs all over the world. His steady job is with the singer Anita Baker and he has been with her for many years. On drums will be Clarence Penn recognized as one of the most hired drummer in the field of jazz today. He works with a variety of artists both nationally and internationally.

This program contains everything from standard jazz tunes to original compositions.

About Per and Tamara:

Jazz pianist, composer, arranger, writer and educator Per Danielsson, is a native of Stockholm, Sweden. Saxophonist Tamara Danielsson hails from Seattle, Washington. They met while attending the award-winning and internationally acclaimed North Texas State University jazz studies program and have been making music together ever since. Individually and collectively they have performed throughout the world on stages from South Africa, Australia, Brazil and Taiwan to festivals in France, Sweden, Italy Germany and Switzerland. Their music has been heard throughout the US and Canada as well, on jazz festivals and charting on Jazz radio. Tamara has established herself as a versatile soloist and “sideman” who has performed with artists such as jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie, jazz/pop pianist Bob James, soul and blues icons Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin and Motown’s Smokey Robinson and Diana Ross. Per’s career has included performances with many leading jazz artists and entertainers such as Louis Bellson, Clark Terry, Rosemary Clooney, Bobby Shew, Marvin Stamm and Maureen McGovern. As members of Chuck Owen’s innovative big band, which recently received a Grammy nomination, both Tamara and Per have performed and/or recorded with Jan Allan, Georg Riedel, Chick Corea, Randy Brecker, Slide Hampton, Gerald Wilson, Neena Freelon, Karrin Allyson and Bob Brookmeyer and Bill Holman, to name a few. Per and Tamara both hold Master’s degrees in jazz studies from the University of South Florida. Per is currently an Associate Professor of Jazz Piano at the University of Central Florida. Tamara is an active performer, clinician and teacher as well. She is co-author of the Mel Bay instructional book, Essential Jazz Lines in the Style of Cannonball Adderley. Per also shares his knowledge in current publications by Mel Bay including, First Lesson – Piano, You Can Teach Yourself Jazz Chords, Essential Jazz Lines in the Style of Bill Evans, Essential Jazz Lines in the Style of Miles Davis and others.
