Join us for a night on the town on Tuesday, January 20 as Ocala Civic Theatre presents Little Shop of Horrors: From Screen to Stage, downtown at the Marion Theatre (50 S. Magnolia Avenue).

6 PM: VIP Event

6:45 PM: General seating begins | Meet & Greet with cast | Live musical preview

7:45 PM: Movie begins

The musical Little Shop of Horrors is live on stage January 29 through February 15 at Ocala Civic Theatre. It’s the tale of Seymour, who works at a Skid Row florist shop where a mysterious Venus flytrap-like plant thrives on blood. But before the stage production ever hilariously horrified theatregoers in living color, its inspiration was the black-and-white 1960 film, which we’ll be screening at the Marion Theatre. Directed by B-movie cult-classic filmmaker Roger Corman, this horror-comedy features a small cameo by a young Jack Nicholson in one of his first movie roles. In 1982, the campy, black-comedy musical adaptation made its off-Broadway debut, taking audiences somewhere that’s green – and gleefully gruesome.

“Feed me, Seymour!” The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a reception for VIP guests. First, step around the corner to The Thirsty Cobbler for a signature cocktail celebrating the event. Then stroll next door to a private room at Ivy On the Square for a generous buffet of delicious hors d’oeuvres (but please, don’t feed the plants) and a cash bar. You’ll also enjoy live music featuring the talents of Becky Baby.

After an hour of food and fun, it’s time to cross the street to the Marion Theatre. VIP guests will have reserved seating, along with a complimentary soda and popcorn. General seating begins at 6:45 p.m. Before the movie starts, the audience will meet members of the cast of The Civic’s production of Little Shop of Horrors and be entertained by a live musical preview of the stage show. Then at 7:45 p.m., the lights will go down and the movie will fill the screen!

VIP tickets to the event, including the reception and the movie, are $45. General admission to see the movie is $20 and includes a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage and popcorn.
