Overview for Lessons and Classes
The CMC does not provide instruments for private lessons or group classes; however, we are more than happy to assist you in acquiring a quality musical instrument, at an affordable price!
Gainesville Violins for violin, viola, cello, and bass) offers flexible rental prices and very good quality instruments at a great price point! They are also a local company. Renting from Gainesville Violins allows you to: support local and small business, deal directly with an individual, receive quick and timely communication, and have an easy and quick option if you need repairs! They offer rentals, rent-to-own, new and used instruments, and an insurance package.
The BandStand (Purchased used brass and woodwinds) The Bandstand is a locally owned and operated Music Repair shop based out of Gainesville. They sell very fairly-priced consignment instruments, which have all been completely refurbished by a trained and certified instrument repair technician. You can purchase a quality instrument for up to as little as 1/3 of the price of a new or rental instrument. Purchase options are limited and bound by inventory and availability.
Music & Arts (all instruments!) is one of the leading rental companies in the country. They offer a wide variety of instruments at a wide variety of prices. Renting from Music & Arts gives you a large variety of options, competitive rental pricing, and the ability to exchange if you want to switch or upgrade instruments. They offer rentals, rent-to-own, new and used instruments, and an insurance package.
Private purchase: You also have the option of purchasing on your own; however, we do recommend consulting the CMC or your teacher before purchasing instruments from places like Amazon or eBay. Some instruments are often so poorly made that they do not function correctly, and will actually inhibit your students progress and learning. If you are unsure about the quality, condition, or value of an instrument, please do not hesitate to reach out to us for a free assessment!
